Tree Planting  – Our Specialty

At Plant-Trans-Plant, our specialty is providing the trees that become the focal point of your property.   Because Plant-Trans-Plant works with many sources for plants, we can find you the perfect tree at an affordable price.  We also specialize in transplanting trees you already have.  We often are hired by homeowners to transplant trees that were planted too close together when they were young.  Either way, we’re set up for maximum efficiency, with machines for digging and planting.

We are proud to say, we have 98-99% success rate with the trees that are sold and planted by Plant-Trans-Plant.  What sets us apart from other landscape and transplant companies is that we know how to prepare the soil to create a successful transplant.  Our complete service package for trees that are purchased from and planted by Plant-Trans-Plant include mulch, fertilizer, transplant inoculant, staking and a one- year warranty.  You are responsible for providing the tree with water.  We also have a maintenance contract available if you would like us to come back every few months to do spring and fall cleanup, fertilize and check the tree.

Why do our ever-growing list of repeat customers turn to Plant-Trans-Plant for their landscape installation needs?  They know they can count on us for a good price, a good value, and worry-free peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does Plant-Trans-Plant do?

Just what our name implies.  We are a full-service landscape installation company.  If it needs planting or transplanting, we can dig it.  Trees are our specialty, but we also plant bushes, shrubs and perennials.  In addition, we do finish grading and install sod and/or seed lawns.

How big of a tree can you move?

We can transplant up to a 5” caliper (A 5” diameter trunk, measured at the base of the tree).

What are the advantages of buying my tree(s) from Plant-Trans-Plant?

Number one, we know trees. We have many years of plant knowledge and experience, and we keep our knowledge of the industry current.  We are a member of the WLCA (Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association) and a member of the BBB (Better Business Bureau).  In addition, we’re a small, family-owned company that will give you personalized service.  We can help you find the perfect tree for your property, your soil, and what you want to accomplish with your tree.   For example, is the tree strictly an aesthetic showpiece and you want to achieve a particular “look,” or do you want to create a privacy screen with a grouping of trees?  Are the planting conditions at your location ideal for the tree you’ve selected?  Also, if you purchase the tree from Plant-Trans-Plant and we plant it, we warranty it.

Can my trees be transplanted any time?

We begin transplanting trees as soon as the frost is out of the ground and end when the ground freezes.  Some trees, however, such as nut trees, are recommended only for spring planting.  As a general rule of thumb, trees should not be transplanted during their growth cycle (of course there are some exceptions to the rule).  The growth cycle for our area is typically from Memorial Day through mid-August.

Do you guarantee your work?

If we sell you a plant, we’ll guarantee it 100% for one year.  If we are transplanting one of your trees, then we cannot guaranty the survival.  However, with proper post-transplant care by you, survival rates of 98%-99% can be expected.

If I want to hire Plant-Trans-Plant, how do I get started?

Just contact us!  We’ll discuss your needs and provide you with a proposal estimate.  Once you have reviewed the proposal and agree, you simply provide a down payment.  We will take care of calling Digger’s Hotine and scheduling your job.  We will let you know when the work will begin, and if it is a large job, when it is expected to be complete.  Final payment is due from you upon completion of the work.

How should I care for my transplanted tree?

Mulching and proper watering are crucial to the survival of a transplanted tree.  Staking is optional, but highly recommended.  If you hire us to do a full-service planting, then your newly planted tree will be fertilized with a 3-year slow-release fertilizer package, soil will be amended with transplant inoculants, including beneficial mycorrhizal fungus, and then mulched and staked.  You will be responsible for monitoring the watering needs of your newly planted tree and supplying it with the water necessary for survival.

Do you provide landscape design?

We don’t do landscape designs.  However, we’re always happy install the plants in the landscape plan that has been designed by your landscape architect.
